About the model

GPT Image 2.5 is the latest generation of the OpenAI image model. It understands complex natural-language instructions in any language and reproduces text accurately right on the image, Cyrillic included — something most competitors still struggle with.

Compared with the previous generation, lighting is noticeably more natural and textures are richer, complex layouts come together more neatly, and transparent backgrounds are cleaner. When editing, the model holds the original subject better: the face, pose and proportions no longer drift from iteration to iteration.

One form instead of four: there is no generation-or-editing mode to pick. While there are no references, the model draws from scratch. Upload a photo and it switches to editing, changing only what you described. It accepts up to 16 source images.

Twelve aspect ratios: 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, 21:9, 27:16, 16:27, 9:8 and 8:9 — from square avatars to ultra-wide banners. Every ratio is available at 1K, 2K and 4K with no restrictions on the combination.

Key capabilities

Multilingual prompts and on-image text

Understands prompts in any language and renders text accurately on the image — logos, signs, headlines, post captions.

Editing without losing the original

Changes only what you asked for and holds the original subject: face, pose and proportions stay the same even after several iterations. Up to 16 references.

12 aspect ratios

From 1:1 and 9:16 to the ultra-wide 21:9 and 27:16 — every popular ratio for social media, banners, print and web graphics.

Resolutions up to 4K

1K for quick sketches and social media, 2K as the balanced working mode, 4K for print and professional materials.

Light, textures, transparency

Natural lighting and rich materials, neat complex layouts and clean transparent backgrounds — a clear step up from the previous generation.

Two modes for the job

Sunburst — maximum quality and editing precision. Flare — the same, roughly twice as fast. The switch sits right in the generation form.

Frequently asked questions

What is GPT Image 2.5 and how is it better than GPT Image 2?+
GPT Image 2.5 is the latest generation of the OpenAI image model. Compared with GPT Image 2, lighting looks noticeably more natural, textures are richer, and complex layouts come out cleaner; transparent backgrounds hold better and the subject is preserved more accurately during precise edits. The set of aspect ratios also grew to 12, including the ultra-wide 27:16 and 16:27.
What is the difference between Sunburst and Flare?+
They are two models from the same generation. Sunburst is the base model: top image quality and the highest editing precision. Flare is the compact one: quality on par with GPT Image 2, but roughly twice as fast. Pick Flare when speed and volume matter (social media, prototypes, exploring ideas), and Sunburst when you need a final result or a delicate photo edit.
How do I switch between generation and editing?+
You don't — there is a single form and the mode is chosen automatically. With no references the model draws from scratch. As soon as you upload at least one photo it switches to editing and changes only what you described, preserving faces, lighting and background. You can upload up to 16 images.
How much does a generation cost?+
Sunburst: from — to — depending on resolution. Flare: from — to —. The price is the same for generation and for editing — it depends only on the mode and the resolution. Prices are updated dynamically on this page.
Can it render text on the image?+
Yes, this is one of the model's strengths. GPT Image 2.5 understands prompts in any language and renders text neatly, Cyrillic included — signs, logos, poster headlines, captions. For a clean result, write the text in CAPS or in quotes and specify its placement and font style ("centered at the bottom, white bold sans-serif").
Which aspect ratios are supported?+
Twelve: 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, 21:9, 27:16, 16:27, 9:8 and 8:9. Each is available at 1K, 2K and 4K — in 2.5 there are no restrictions on combining an aspect ratio with a resolution.
How long are generated images stored?+
All generated images are stored for 30 days from creation, then deleted automatically. We recommend downloading final images right after generation.
